Soft Crystal Chemiluminescence Systems Using Organic Peroxides

Abstract Chemiluminescence (CL) is a phenomenon in which chemical reaction produces an excited-state product that emits light. Taking advantage of this property, several analytical methods to study the CL reactions by photon detection have been developed literature. By applying methodology molecular crystals, soft crystal systems constructed analyze intracrystalline chemiluminescent compounds. In chapter, fundamental concept and applications are presented. Using example involving organic peroxides, important characteristics such as chemiexcitation, quantum yield emission wavelengths discussed. Furthermore, solid state crystals described. Finally, application peroxides system their structure-dependencies, kinetics inductions phase transitions elucidated. This chapter concludes with brief outlook towards future systems.
